How to apply for your jewellers permit

Please note that CPM cannot undertake applications or application renewals on behalf of our clients, but there are consultants listed at the end of this article who can be of service to you. What we are able to assist jewellers with is a “Letter of Trade” which is necessary to submit with your applications. Please contact your Sales Executive for this. A reminder that you will need to show that you are disposing of your waste correctly. You can obtain this proof via a letter from your waste management company. CPM can recommend EnviroServe or Waste Man.

CPM supports jewellery design students

The next generation of jewellers are faced with the task of succeeding in a highly competitive environment, and Cape Precious Metals is happy to be doing our part to support them as they navigate the red tape and daily challenges of this dynamic industry. Tom Altavilla, our sales Manager for Gauteng, was greatly impressed by the remarkable talent evident at the ceremony for the graduates of the Intsika Silver Mentorship Programme of 2022.

Meet the Cape Precious Metals Directors: Camilla Eades

Cami’s journey started at UCT where she studied Business Science, and achieved an honours in Finance. Thereafter she completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) at UCT. Her 3 years of articles was completed at EY (Ernst & Young). She was lucky enough to be on a number of large/listed audits which gave her the opportunity to see the business world from many angles and to work alongside inspiring individuals from a young age.

Meet the Cape Precious Metals Directors: Jolandie Binneman

Jolandie Binneman is our Operations Director. Her journey with CPM began 19 years ago in our accounts department. From there she moved on to Dispatch Manager and ended up in the refinery as Production Manager. [She also had a flying stint as CPM founder Sharon Eades’ PA – but a successor was employed very quickly as this was not her zone of joy and genius!] She has only gone from strength to strength in her soul role as manager, and her commitment and outstanding performance is a shining light for her colleagues.

CPM supports an ethical jewellery & precious metals industry

With all the frustration around legislation that our industry is currently navigating, we’d like to address the positive side of what can feel like an infuriating mess of red tape and endless hoops to jump through. The South African Revenue Services introduced the Domestic Reverse Charge requirements in order to stop the billions lost through  gold scams. The extra paperwork might seem like a hassle for some of those we do business with, but CPM takes seriously our responsibility to do all we can to establish the origins of the precious metals we buy, to fight criminality and to protect each other from the effects of the often violent crime associated with the unlawful acquisition and trade of precious metals.

CPM hosts our first Free State networking event

On the 22nd of June 2023, Cape Precious Metals hosted our first networking event specifically for our clients in the Free State. For several years now, the Free State area has been managed by CPM’s  Sales Representative in KwaZulu-Natal, Mike Bleeker.
