Attention all Cape Precious Metals suppliers who don’t know how to request a Tax Clearance Status (TCS), follow the below steps to get yourself sorted. This is crucial for SARS compliance and necessary to do business with CPM.
Part of our KYC process is obtaining tax clearance certificates from our customers. So follow the below now and tick it off your to-do list:
Step 1
Log on to your e-Filing profile
Step 2
If you a business portfolio on your e-filing, make sure you have selected the correct portfolio and taxpayer (If you do not have a portfolio, ignore this step)
Step 3
Select tax status in the top menu on the right
Step 4
On the left hand side of the screen, select “Tax Compliance Status”
Step 5
Select Tax Compliance Status Request. Make sure Type is set to “Good Standing”, and click “Request”
Step 6
A window will pop up with a form that will have highlighted red areas to fill in certain information such as contact details. Fill them in. Select ‘No’ to both questions, then click on Submit Form.
Step 7
On the next step it will state “Your request has been successfully submitted”. (Please note that you may follow up on the progress of your request on the Tax Compliance Work Page). Select Continue.
Step 8
Select Good Standing, then select the Request Reference Number
Step 9
Print Pin
Note that you might get a message that says the letter is still being processed, in which case try again in a little while. When the letter is ready it will open in a new window. A unique PIN will be issued for each request that you make.
As described on the SARS website,
“The PIN provides you with a way to authorise any third party to view your tax compliance status online via eFiling. Once you have provided the PIN to a third party, the PIN will enable the relevant organisation or government department to view your current tax compliance status online. It will present them with your overall compliance status as at the date and time they check it instead of your status as it was at the date that the PIN was issued to you. To protect the confidentiality of taxpayer information, no other information will be accessible.”
Once you’ve received your pin, kindly send the letter to shani@cpmct.co.za and lisa@cpmct.co.za
