Nomthandazo Tshabalala is an aspiring jewellery designer and multidisciplinary creative from Diepkloof, Soweto, Johannesburg. A natural creative at heart, her work is rooted in self-expression, individuality, and storytelling through design.
Her artistic journey began at the National School of the Arts, where she majored in violin and piano, developing a deep appreciation for discipline, craftsmanship, and creative expression – values that continue to inform her approach to jewellery design today.
After matriculating, Nomthandazo pursued studies in Theology and Religion at the University of Pretoria, an experience that broadened her understanding of culture, meaning, and the human spirit. Although she was unable to complete the degree due to financial constraints, the redirection proved pivotal.
She is currently completing a Diploma in Jewellery Design and Manufacturing at the University of Johannesburg, while also running a small handmade jewellery business focused on resin and polymer clay. Inspired by the women around her who celebrated individuality, Nomthandazo creates one-of-a-kind pieces designed to tell personal stories.
Her long-term vision is to grow as a skilled jewellery designer and artist, collaborate within the industry, and explore metal sculpting and unconventional forms of creation – continuously pushing creative boundaries and building a future rooted in innovation and authenticity.
CPM proudly sponsored Nomthandazo’s first year of studies at the University of Johannesburg and is honoured to support such a dedicated, passionate jewellery design student and creative.
