Nelson Mandela Day is more than just a day; it’s a movement to honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela by making a positive impact in our communities. This year, our teams across South Africa came together to contribute to various causes, embodying the spirit of unity and compassion that Mandela championed.
Cape Town: Supporting Ladles of Love and Disaster Relief
Our Cape Town team took the initiative to support Ladles of Love, a cherished charity of ours that tirelessly works to feed those in need. In light of the recent rains and subsequent hardships, we also responded to the mayor’s call to action. Fire stations across the city were designated as drop-off points for essentials. Jaun, from our team, made the first delivery to Goodwood Fire Station’s Disaster Risk Management Team, ensuring that vital supplies reached those affected by the flooding.

Port Elizabeth: Caring for Newborns
In Port Elizabeth, our team focused on the youngest members of our community. They delivered essential items to Giving Gifts of Love Newborns, an organisation dedicated to providing much-needed support to new mothers and their babies. This contribution helps ensure that newborns have the essentials they need for a healthy start in life.

Germiston: Supporting Animals and Special Needs Communities
Our Germiston branch, represented by Tom and Janet, made a heartfelt donation of dog food to the SPCA, contributing to the welfare of animals in need. Additionally, Walter and Shannon delivered a generous food hamper to Avril Elizabeth Home for the Handicapped. This gesture supports the home’s mission to provide care and a nurturing environment for individuals with disabilities.

Durban: Helping Local Animal Rescue
In Durban, our team reached out to PMB Animal Rescue & Rehome (PARR), an organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals. They donated food and chewies, addressing some of the most pressing needs of the rescue. PMB Animal Rescue & Rehome is in desperate need of puppy food, cat food (Montego or Monty and Me preferred), toys, chewies, and blankets.

A Day of Giving and Unity
Nelson Mandela once said, “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” On this Mandela Day, our teams across South Africa have strived to make a difference, embodying the spirit of giving and unity. We are proud of the collective effort and the positive impact made on our communities.
As we reflect on this day, let’s continue to carry forward the values of compassion, generosity, and service. Every small act of kindness contributes to a greater good, creating ripples of positive change in our world.
